Tour Description
The tour meets at the corner of Addison and Sheffield near the statues of Billy Williams and Ron Santo. We will travel counterclockwise around the outside of the ballpark finishing at the corner of Clark and Addison. We will have several stops along the way where we will discuss details of the park from the best vantage point. The tour costs $20 ($15 for seniors and students - children under age 12 are free) and will last roughly 75 minutes. Amongst the topics covered will be the following:
- Franchise beginnings
- Baseball at the turn of the century (the 20th century!)
- The ballparks that preceded Wrigley Field
- Charles Weeghman and the Federal League
- Cubs ownership history
- Memorable moments in Cubs history
- The four statues that surround the park
- Renovations through the years
- History and stories related to the hand operated scoreboard
- Landing spots of some tape measure home runs
- Fun facts about the ball park
- Other events and other teams that have used Wrigley Field
